New: Modern browsers contain plenty of convenient features. From automatic spellcheck to page translation, there's so much functionality that it's easy to forget about browser security.
Let's take a look at a few different potentially dangerous aspects of a web browser that could compromise your security or personal information.
Old: We've discussed the importance of password security before. While passwords have some inherent issues, we're stuck with them until a better method of authentication comes along.
Unfortunately insecure passwords are still very common. A new study reveals 2016's worst passwords as well as some interesting information on how people think about security that we can learn from; let's take a look.
New: Four years ago, Dropbox was hacked. At the time, public information said that only email addresses were stolen. We now know a copy of users' encrypted passwords were also taken. Knowing that your information could be compromised, what should you do to protect yourself?
Since the stolen passwords were appropriately encrypted, instead of the hackers seeing plain text passwords, they were instead greeted with a series of seemingly random characters.
New: If you haven't updated your iPhone or iPad in a while, now is a good time.
Apple just released a critical security update that resolves a rather nasty bug. The flaw allows a remote attacker to record conversations, track where you are, read your email and text messages, and copy the data on the device.
Old: It might seem like it just launched, but Windows 10 has been available for over a year. While Microsoft offered a year-long free upgrade to consumers running Windows 7 or 8.1, most businesses haven't upgraded yet. This is understandable, since rolling out an operating system (OS) to an entire organization is a lot more involved than updating it on a single PC.
However, now that Windows 10 is out of its infancy, it's time for businesses to take a closer look at the OS and why it's a good idea to think about upgrading soon.
