Crayon Named a Leader in the Inaugural Gartner Magic Quadrant for Competitive and Market Intelligence Platforms

We are excited to announce that Crayon has been named a Leader in Gartner’s inaugural Magic Quadrant for Competitive & Marketing Intelligence (C&MI) Platforms!

What the Market Told Us

According to Gartner, “the evolution and momentum in this market made it the right time for a full MQ,” which was a perfect reflection of Crayon’s recent growth and growing enterprise client roster, including Dropbox, ZoomInfo, Outreach, CloudZero, Zapier, The Standard, Workday, and hundreds of others.

AI Is Reshaping How Intelligence Gets Used

According to Gartner, “AI, including autonomous agents, is reshaping how organizations gather, analyze, and activate intelligence." This AI focus for the Magic Quadrant perfectly positioned Crayon to earn a Leader position, coming on the heels of major innovations like listening agents for Slack & Teams, AI Refinement layer, automated Win Stories, automated content delivery, and Crayon’s specialized website tracking agent. Combined, these AI innovations have enabled Crayon customers to build high-impact, automated competitive programs.

“Sparks has been a transformative tool for our competitive intelligence program,”

said Holly Nelson, Senior Sales Enablement Manager at The Standard and a Crayon customer. “It helps us both track and analyze industry-relevant topics tailored to our market. After we create a Spark for a certain competitor, we can then instantly include those findings on our battlecards."

What Buyers Are Demanding

Gartner’s take is that “Buyers are demanding measurable ROI tied to C&MI initiatives, deeper integration with business workflows, and outputs designed for decision-enablement." Again, Crayon was perfectly positioned:

“Last year competitive win rates improved by 7 percentage points, from 52% to 59%, in the second half of the year compared to the first half, reflecting stronger positioning and faster access to competitive intelligence inside sellers' workflows," said Daniela Cubillos, Associate Director of Strategy Consulting, Wunderkind.

“We've gone from reactive to proactive, static to dynamic — from a research function to a revenue-driving function."

Purpose-Built Beats General-Purpose

Gartner also highlighted in this report the ways in which “C&MI platforms are addressing gaps and limitations of general-purpose AI tools, including a focus on proprietary and premium content, triangulation of 1000s of diverse data sources, as well as robust validation, fact-checking, and relevancy scoring.”

“Crayon is purpose-built for competitive intelligence, and it gives our team accurate, high-value insights that Glean can surface across the organization,"

according to Tim Glomb, VP of Digital, Content, and AI, Wunderkind.
